Identity
The ALL project is the brainchild of a group of linguists based variously in London, Boston and Yerevan. Its intention is to create a bi-lingual living lexicon of Western Armenian, online. A vital task considering that it is recognised as an endangered language.
This identity embodies the intentions of the project. It is created from a western A’ letterform and the Armenian ‘H’ character (H being the first letter of ‘hayeren’, which translates as ‘the Armenian language’). To the uninitiated it looks a little like an A and a Z combined. To savvy linguists and Armenians speakers alike the distinction, and the inherent message, is writ large.
The ALL project is based at King’s College Centre for Computing in the Humanities.
